Missenyora 2018

Missenyora 2018

Missenyora, meaning ‘my lady’, was a term of address to abbesses at the Vallbona de les Monges monastery. This wine harks back to a bygone era, following the inspiration of a wine that used to be made in the area. Like the Agaliu wine, Missenyora uses only the Macabeo variety, but has a sweeter touch thanks to the residual sugar.

Grape variety and origin

From our vineyards in Vallbona and Sant Martí de Maldà. To produce this wine we look for mature, rich Macabeo grapes, selecting the most suitable vineyards.

Fermented in American and French oak barrels and aged on the dregs or lees until the spring, the wine has a characteristic sweetness that distinguishes it from the Agaliu.

Tasting notes and food pairings

A bright straw yellow colour. Clean, floral aromas with hints of fruit (orange peel, tropical fruit). Subtle oak and smoky flavours. Well balanced on the palate, combining the Macabeo flavours with the oak and sugar. The balanced acidity gives a delightful freshness to the wine. Pairs well with creamy cheeses, roasted white meats, and foie gras.
